Data Formats

Hard Copies

We can deliver logs both in hard copy (printed) or digital format. Printed logs from welenco are formatted to conform to API standards to ensure consistent presentation and ease of correlation with existing logs. Typically, our customers request one to five draft copies of each log in the field. We usually wait at least a week before sending out final copies to give the customer adequate time to decide on any changes in heading information or log presentation. Final copies are made on a high resolution, thermal black print and color ink-jet or wax-ink. We can also supply a reproducible velum prints when needed.

Digital Data

We can provide logs in a wide variety of digital formats. The two most commonly requested are ascii (.asc or .las) and .dxf. Ascii data is a simple tab delimited text file suitable for import into any spreadsheet program or printing from a text editor. A .dxf file is a vector graphic file of the log that is suitable for import into CAD programs such as AutoCad and TurboCad. Many of our customers have drafting departments that use CAD programs to arrange .dxf files of our logs for display in their project final reports. Some of the other file formats we can provide include but are not limited to; .dwg .pdf, .jpg, .tif, .exe, .emf and .wmf. If you will require any digital data please mention it to us when you call to request your job.

welenco Viewer Data

We have written and can provide our customers with several software packages they can use to view or, in some cases, manipulate and print logging or video data we provide for them. Some of these are available for download from here or we can provide them to you on CD free of charge.

Drift-Pac Client Viewer Module

The program allows you to import the Drift-Pac inclination and directional calculations so you can manipulate, export, and print the various graphs. To load this program on to your computer, open the Viewer Directory on the CD and double click on Setup.exe. There is an example file that you can experiment with.

welenco Snapshot Viewer

The program allows you to view welenco well video snapshots that are usually supplied to you on floppy disk. To load this program on to your computer, open the Miniviewer Directory on the CD and double click on Setup.exe. Once you have MiniViewer running, just look for the files on your floppy, usually in A drive. The files will show up with the name of each file as the depth the snapshot was made. For example, if the snapshot was made at 304’ then the file will show up as 304.jpg. If there are more than one snapshot at the same depth, the snapshot will be as 304.jpg, 304A.jpg, and 304B.jpg.

welenco Video Viewer

This is an application that allows you to view the actual well video recorded onto CD or DVD RAM with more control than the normal Windows Media Player on most new computers today. To install, open the Video Viewer folder on the CD and run Setup.Exe. Also included is a short demonstration well video. Because the demonstration video is very short, the VCR controls may not work properly. However, they will function normally with a full length well video.

RG Winlogger Viewer Module

The program is the same one that welenco uses in the field to acquire logging data, but since you will not have the appropriate hardware, you cannot acquire data. Once the program is installed on your computer, then you can import the raw log data (logged on our digital equipment) and accomplish everything we do i.e., change scales, merge, change curves, print to any Windows color printer, and export to PDF, EXE, JPG, TIF, BMP, and DXF files (To create some of these files, additional third party software is required.) To load this program, open the Winlog directory, open Disk 1, and double click on Setup.exe.
